Hey everyone, the only thing stopping me from getting an iPad is my concern that i cannot download PDFs on Safari and save them locally on the iPad (i use Journals at University) can this be done? i don't mind if i have to buy Pages from Apple to do this, regards, skate71290

Probably answered thousands of times, but anyway.
Several options:
If you use iCab browser you'd be able to download locally and have it opened in your favorite pdf reader.
If you use goodreader, you can let it download the file directly.
If you use dropbox, you can use it to download the file into dropbox.
If you stick safari, you can just add g to the http://-address to have it download into goodreader (so teh address becomes ghttp://)

I came to say this exact thing. You could always just copy/paste the URL in goodreader, or choose to open an email attachment it in goodreader, but the ghttp:// is awesome. The only time i have had issues with it was trying to load a huge .ppt file or googledoc.
Great Thanks Guys, another quick question, when creating Pages/Keynote documents on the iPad, i presume they can be saved locally and you can work on more than one, is there a possibility to Import Pages/Keynote from my iMac onto the iPad via iTunes so i basically have all my work on my iPad? regards, skate71290

You'll be lucky if they have any left. Currys or PC World might be a better bet.
Like AdBlock, SDM doesn't work on the iPad - well it didn't when I tried it last week. Has it been updated?

However, there are times when I'm working on a project and have a variety of different related docs that I want to store together (word, pdf, e-mail messages). For this I use Readdledocs. This app not only allows me to store different doc types in one folder (e.g. "Tokyo meeting") but create new docs. I usually use this function for taking notes. The bottom line is there are lots of good options.
