My kids were looking for a game online and found it on what looks like a bit of a dodgy site. They clicked on a “download” button, which downloaded a file called “your_file_is_ready_to_download.dmg”
Which they then installed! ?

They said it looked like something installed, but I can’t find any trace of it and am concerned it may be a virus or something.
Can anyone offer any help or advice about how to find out what it was and what I should do about it?!

Thanks.

If you still have the installer file, you can upload it here for a comprehensive virus check as well:

ETA: going forward, you might want to change the user accounts on your computer that are used regularly to non-Admin accounts. If you do this, first set up an Admin account that you use for troubleshooting and emergency access only.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
I will look into them.
I have now set up separate accounts for them and password protected mine. I also think they will be a bit more careful in the future.
This is a new (to me) MacBook Pro. I have always had Windows laptops before so this is a bit of a learning curve for me.
