So I'm usually careful, but got bit drunk and ended up downloading some naughty mp4 video files from direct download file upload site. And of course made copies and put them on external hard drive.

Come next day and hangover, cursed myself, deleted all videos from Mac and external hard drive.

Ran Malwarebytes, everything seems to be fine.

What else should I do (besides not getting drunk again...)?
The video files played all normally and were what I expected them to be.

1) Could I be infected? Will Malwarebytes find anything if there is anything to find?

2) Could my external drive and all my good normal files be infected? Could I infect other Mac systems with those files from external hard drive?

3) Could normally working mp4 video file contain something bad?

4) Could normally working mp4 video file leave something bad behind after I deleted it?

Malwarebytes is one of the best in the market, if you're extremely paranoid maybe time machine restore to an earlier date.

Next time use protection so you don't infect yourself and others!

Hmmm..... searches Google for Ethernet condom. Lol.

In actuality, you probably don't have anything to worry about, other than the possibility that either the FBI or your girlfriend/ boyfriend might have some questions about your tastes in porn.

All depends on where you went, what you downloaded, what you searched for, and what you might have clicked "yes" to install.

HAHA! Do you perhaps have advice on real time protection? I don't really have any real time scanners in Mac - do you think I'd need one?

Good thing I'm currently lonely and single. :D
Well, Japanese animated porn felt like good idea that moment. Used one streaming site that offered download links to upload site and besides the MacKeeper or something pop-up I shut down right away, only things I installed were mp4 files.
Is there any chance something could slip in and run even if I only downloaded mp4? Without asking my permission first?

Most of the crap that gets loaded when I go to the sketchy websites to stream games are aimed at Windows, you'll be fine no need for real time protection :)

Thanks! :D So, overall, and in this case where I was idiot and downloaded those videos, just run Malwarebytes and no need to worry?
