I'm trying to download an HD movie but when i click purchase it gives me the option to choose SD or HD. When i download the HD it only comes in at 720p. is there a way to make it download in 1080p - a bit like in the iTunes on my Mac where I can select to download 720p or 1080p in the options?

You can change that in the iTunes preferences pane under "Store'. However, when I do this my older MAC MINI cannot play the content on the computer. It can stream it to the apple TV but will not play it on my mini or my PC.

If the movie is available in 1080p, your new iPad will download that version. The best way to check is to search the movie in iTunes on a computer as that will tell you what resolution it's available in.

But that's not always the case. I've downloaded the first season of The Walking Dead, and when I access my purchase history and download them on my computer theyre avalible in 1080p. But when downloading them on my iPad I only get the 720p version. Same with The Killing for example.

Some of my shows have no problem downloading in 1080p.
