Ok, I dont know if this is possible or illegal, but there are some sites that I want to visit but are slow loading. I want to be able to download the entirewebsite (html, artwork) to view on my computer without relying on ISP to connect to it. I dont know if this is legal or just a no-no for web. Anyway tips on how to do this legit would be nice. I am not using this for making my own site, just information I keep referring to in different links that takes forever.

Thank you
RM

For some reason I feel like you are lying when you say that, due to previous questions about css and xhtml... but there is no problem with that- because you really should download all of the webpages and code that you can from the web, not to copy and pose as your own, but to test out, tweak, and alter until you understand how it all works and WHY it works. The best way to figure out how to make a website is to copy ones that you admire.. but only copy them offline! Once you are ready to post it to the web, you should really have made a signifigant number of changes.

Anyways, the program you are wanting is called SiteSucker http://www.sitesucker.us/

- Depending on how complex the website is, sometimes it will lack a complete download.. especially if image directories are somehow protected, or if images are hidden in the CSS in folders not used bythe main html.. it may have trouble finding them... but that is where you just view the site offline, check out what graphics are missing.. then snoop through the source code to locate their paths.

good luck

Ok, dont want to be seen as stealing some sites code I ll come out. I just got a new game and the site to get info is jam from others navigating that I just wanted to download content to be able to read guides, stats and info easier rather than wait for 2 minutes wasting away time.

thank you for the tip

You can also do it with Adobe Acrobat Professional. It will create a pdf for you with links and everything.

I don't know why people would consider it stealing if you got ideas from or even used some part of someone elses code.

Hey we all do it all the time. Thats how we learn and get ideas! Oh well.

1. open a terminal session
2. type: wget -d -r -l 20 URL

type: man wget to view manual...

New Macs don't ship with wget. I just had to go find and download it yesterday on the intertubes.

And really, do we want newbies playing in the terminal window?? ;)
