iPad Downloading a file from files on ipad

There is probably a simply answer to this that I am missing, using ipad air 2 with latest OS.

When I try to view or download a file in my files folder it won’t download it from icloud. I usually uses a tether from my phone to connect with unlimited data.

Will it only download over a wifi connection?

Are you sure the file in iCloud is Present and is not broken or something? Generally File would take longer time to download if the Internet speed is slow (Doesn't Matter if it is Wi-Fi or you are teethering it from a Phone) but not downloading is not possible. Please check if the original File in iCloud is not broken or missing.

Yeah, iCloud acts funky with cellular data. On my iPad Pro, none of my iCloud files sync unless I switch to WiFi. It can become fairly annoying after a while.

If you have access to a WiFi network, then download the files through that.

I’m positive it is in icloud, it will download ok on my phone but not the ipad.

I thought that might be the case. You used to have the option to turn off downloading over cellular but not any more.

I work away and rarely have wifi on a night.
