It doesn’t work on my iPhone, says I need to be connected to WiFi. My friend says he can but I’ve not witnessed it. Looking on Google it seems to suggest you can’t.

It’s just movies I’m interested in, I know you can select for other things like apps and audio books.

Anyone clarify this for me?

You can’t download anything over 200mb(I believe) using cellular data.

Ditto believing capped at 200 currently.

However, MAYBE, it being carrier specific? Some carriers MAYBE have tweeked their carrier setting to allow bigger? iOS "cellular" screens under Settings vary wildy, depending on country and or provider (eg. Some carriers allow turning off LTE/4G and going 3G full time, wifi calling, etc).

I was under the assumption they allow cellular DL of movies cause I had 2 new releases (GoTG2 and IT) download without my input or any wifi connection.

Yes you can, but you've got to use your Mac too. With this trick you can backup an iOS device to iCloud and download iTunes movies any size (so long as you've got an unlimited cellular plan)
Here's how.

There were several posts on Reddit at iOS 12 launch that someone could bypass 150-200 mb limit, but no confirmation recordings or other proof. Currently the only bypass that still works is with changing dates as far as I know.

in ios 13 you can finally load very big apps in the app store. you just have to activate it in the settings.

unfortunately i don't know if the iTunes Store is also in iOS 13.
