Downloading music

if you're looking for legal means of obtaining music, there is a lot on iTunes, and some torrent sites.
Are there any programs that i can use to download music onto my ibook. i need something like limewire...but something that wont jack it up!
could you be more specific? Are you looking for free music sites? A google search will turn up a good number. Are you looking to download a music library?
I've had good luck with both limewire and azeurus. I'm sure there are people who swear by others. What operating system are you running, and what is your connection speed?
My opinion only:
If you want songwriters and bands to continue to make music, then pay for the music you use, don't steal it.

second that. Steadman released all their stuff as free downloads on the internet. I'm not a huge fan, but it impressed the heck outta me. The story I heard was they signed a deal with a label that went under, they signed a deal with a label that was absorbed and the big label wasn't interested, so they said screw it and put everything up online.

Just a little note to back up what others have already said. We don't advocate piracy here, and anyone who posts links to pirate sites will find themselves with deleted posts and time away from MR.
I guess by most everyone's definitions, I "steal" music all the time, rather than giving my money to record labels (which the artists get almost _none_ of anyway).
I also support artists I like by buying directly from their websites, or going to their concerts and buying things there.
Either way, using torrent sites is going to be your best bet. Grab a bit torrent client and find a good torrent site (of which there are many). The Official BitTorrent client works fine, but there are many other torrent clients that have different features. There are also legitimate torrent sites out there.

We have the chance to vent our disapproval and the mods will soon jump on anything against the rules.
I'm a musician. Lots of bands and musicians out there have free mp3s of their stuff to download on their websites. Legally. We want you to hear us.

Not technically. He's stating he doesn't want to pay for it, and there's lots of legitimate FREE music out there.
For downloading legal, free, torrents, I prefer Azureus.
Oh, and in Canada, we pay an extra tax on burnable media, some of which goes to the musicians. I guess our government sees the futility of eliminating file sharing of any kind, and just worked around that and tax the discs that are used to burning.
Gee. Since baristas at CoffeeBucks make only minimum wage, then I should get my coffee free and they should make nothing at all. It's only fair, since the unethical CoffeeBucks Corporation takes almost all of the price of the coffee for themselves.
Give me a break. The songwriters make about 9 cents per song royalty on each unit sold. Royalties on copyright is their only income - and is through publishing deals with the nasty record companies that their songs get sold in enough volume to make a living.
Get a better justification for ripping off the songwriters and artists. That one is too lame for words.

i'm cool with that. it's just if you look at the third and fourth answer he got, the posters *assumed* he was onto stealing music ( wich it seems he is) but they did before he even mentionned it. what happened to "innocent until proven guilty" ??? i guess now the thing is more like "you're guilty unless you can prove you're innocent" heh?
Some people have downloads available on Purevolume (legal). You won't be popular around these parts if you're planning on illegally downloading music. Besides, iTunes makes buying music too cheap and easy to skip
