I use Tiger 10.4.3. I've recently had problems downloading some applications. Including Windows media player for Mac osx and udupe for OSX. The problem is that they show up as blank white sheets on my desktop and show that there is no application associated with them to enable them to be opened. This has not happended in the past and I have previously succcessfully installed such software. any suggestions
Gareth

I reinstalled tiger and had that problem just yesterday
It's not a problem because of reinstalling. It's not really a problem at all. You just need a 3rd party app to open the format the file are in. Stuff-it does not come with OS X anymore.

Apple natively supports .zip compression since 10.3 (I might be off a version). Apple has natively supported .dmg for much longer than that. Both are preferred and superior to stuff-it. I'd bet that the agreement between apple and Stuff-it was up too, but I can't prove it.
