I can't download ANYTHING with my iBook and OS X. Safari or Explorer. The download manager shows that byte-wise the download is complete, but then it just sits there "waiting for data" forever.

Any ideas?

repair permissions. most likely the permissions are corrupted for whatever directory (the desktop is a directory too) these are saving to, so they can't be written correctly. is this just happening on one particular site/download, or every singe one? if it's the former, i might suspect that the original file on the server is corrupted.

Yes, it doesn't matter what site I'm trying to download stuff from...same problem. Even software updates from Apple's site.
Thanks, I'll will try the permission repair!

have you ever used any third-party downloading software like Speed Download or something?. These can take over the downloading functions of your browser and if you don't delete them correctly they will cause problems.
