Downloads onto Iphone

Well I actually feel embarrassed asking this as I feel a fool

I understand that you can download software onto the iphone??

I have 2 questions

1) - How?

2) - Where can I find a list of downloads??

You would have to jailbreak the phone to add download stuff to the phone. Until the SDK (software Development Kit) is released later this month. So if you have a clean phone not jailbroke you have to wait.
