I keep having a re-occuring random problem recieving large emails or downloading files off the internet. Basically the download starts off really fast (50kbps) then slowsdown on a stready curve to under 1kbps. This also happens with emails sticking on about 200k recieved then stalling completely. Very annoying when on a deadline! I'm using a 1.5 Albook with 1Gb RAM and am on 10.4.7, have a pretty fast 2mb+ wireless connection and i'm down to about 2Gb free on my hard drive, any ideas out there?
thanks

The first thing I would do is make sure that airport is that the top of the network configurations list. If this doesn't seem to help do an archive and install without the network preferences. I had this problem, still happens sometimes. I have a MacBook Pro. But it seems to get really bad after being in windows. So I repair permissions then I verify the disk, but this won't matter to you becuse you use a powerbook.

No an archive and install, saves your system, including apps, music and all the rest of your system on the hard drive. When you do an archive and install it re installs the entire system but saves all of your things on your hard drive. When you do this seeing as it is your network, make sure you uncheck network preference panes i think it is or something.
