If I want to start clean on Friday with my 11 Pro, instead of doing the new phone to phone wireless transfer of data, what will be the most annoying things that I'll have to setup from scratch?

- Setting up Mail accounts
- Passwords
- Safari bookmarks/history
- Photos can be downloaded/accessed via iCloud, so that's ok
- Loading any music on (planning on going streaming only this time around, anyway)
- General Settings (Wifi networks and passwords, screen and sound settings, etc.)

What am I forgetting? Is this dumb or is there a benefit from starting clean?

Hi,

For me, I do not mind factory resetting for a true clean start. I believe that a clean start is always best.

The MOST annoying thing from it in my experience is simply having to customize general settings once more and reinstalling and logging into apps. That's the only dislike I have for it.

You "believe it" but I'm wondering if there are any truly objectively proven, fundamental benefits to doing it from scratch.

I’m wondering this same thing. I’ve had an iPhone since the 3G and I’ve always done a backup and full restore from backup. However I always seem to have weird things happen to my phone, and my iphones tend to get hot quite often. It wasn’t that strange to me except I broke my iPhone 7 and I’m using my wife’s old iPhone until tomorrow. It gets hot while I’m using it and charging it and it never did that for her.

Is there a way to restore things like text messages and photos but that’s it? Any apps can be re downloaded, and it would suck to not have photos.

Last year the phone to phone transfer worked flawlessly for me going from X to Xs Max. This year I'm currently stuck in a debacle...the transfer seemed to work phone going to 11pro, but then the phone is now stuck in some kind of update for the last 4 hours. I started a thread about it. No idea what to do, it may be IOS 13 related? (Since so many new phones are probably being updated today?)
