Is there really a performance boost compared to nvidia original ones?
Any Heat issues?

yes i use dox and update with them pretty often

of course with any "hacked" driver its at own risk type of thing buuuuuut in my case

they work really well....even using instructions to mod those .inif or whatever they are files i could never get official drivers to install on my imac 3.06/8800gs.....thats why i first used dox drivers and they installed right away

but sure enough dox means you can get drivers on a mac fast (tho now it looks like nvidia is actually putting out official laptop card drivers finally) including betas....and they are optomized

how much optomized really means i dont know i havent compared an official driver with a dox driver at the same version.....the only compare i did was with the original bootcamp drivers and with a later version dox driver and using fraps got framerates up from 5 to 10 fps depending on game

so i like them :D

also dox seems like a really nice guy from the forums and tries to help people out a lot

about heat.....yes it is true that some driver versions give more heat on some hardware than other driver versions..... this is true for official drivers too of course....but i havent had any hardware death or anything from using dox for almost a year i guess

plus i always use smcfancontrol under windows anyway to save my hd from melting so im presuming its all ok

as i say i only used dox on my hardware but for me its worked fantastic

your smc use under windows means you max the fans out in os x, then reboot to boot camp?

well basically yes

actually i have a fan setting in smcfancontrol which is just high enough to keep the HD temp around 52 or 53 at max after gaming in windows......(this is coz after reading many many threads about temps in these forums it seems the max temps for hds are 55 or 60...but lifespan is down once temps are over around 50)

and yes set the fans then reboot to windows and the fan settings stick

im not worried much about cpu and gpu temps under windows from my reading it seems like its the hd temps that are the thing to watch

back to dox drivers i cant think of any reason to fear them really you can always make a restore point before install and you can always go back to bootcamp drivers if you want to
