DP 7 -> iMac won't start anymore

Hello,

I just updated to DP7 and now my iMac (Late 2011) won't start anymore... I see the loading screen and at about a 1/4 of it my iMac just shuts down... I don't see a recovery partition also... does anyone have an idea what to do? Can I just install DP2 from a stick over my existing system?

What do you mean you don't see a recovery partition?

Did you try booting into the recovery partition?

Yes, I just remembered pressing CMD+R and now I'm using disk utility... if that won't work I could try installing without deleting any data before (did always work in the past)... but I'm a little bit curious why my system won't start anymore, just because of updating to DP7... everything went fine, system shut down, turned on again and since then nothing more happens

EDIT: ok Disk Utility just told me to repair my disk... let's see what happens next

Ok, so here's the thing: repairing the disk got me "volume bitmap needs minor repair for orphaned blocks"... system start wasn't possible of course after that...

So I removed the HDD from my MacBook and put it in an external case, booted that one and was luckily able to save any crucial data since I can access the whole drive without problems...

The question is, what now? I would like to repair everything instead of formating... installing the whole system again takes a lot of time (all the apps, settings and so on)

Please don't ask me about TM, because I usually have a backup, but after installing 10.10, I got problems backing up and didn't create a new one (really really stupid)

So DiskWarrior? Read some good stuff about it...

EDIT: holding down OPTION while booting showed up my Mac and my Boot Camp Partition, but not my Recovery Partition, which surprised me

EDIT2: I'm not sure if I even need DiskWarrior, because I've just found out, that I'm not able to create new partitions on that hard drive if I would want to (what I actually don't want). After googling that given error I found out, that most people get this if they are using FileVault, I also read something about locked disk... I didn't activate FileVault and I didn't lock the disk... is there a way to unlock it? Maybe I can repair it or even start the system again if I have full access again, because right now I can read every file, but don't write to it...

I'm having the same problem on my rmbp. I have to connect it externally to see anything too. Boots into safe mode fine, but can't boot normally (stops a quarter way through the loading bar). Can't seem to reinstall the os either. Keeps saying try again later.

Help!!!

Same here on mid 2011 MBP - shuts down 1/4-1/2 way through start up progress bar.

When Im in recovery and sign in to reinstall the system it says "temporarily unavailable. Try again later". Can't boot into safe mode.

Anyone successful yet?

I restored from a Time Machine backup back to DP6. Working much better now.
