I had a bad experience with my osx lion install on my MBA. Is it possible to, rather than upgrading in SL, to install it on an external USB HD?

Yes, but remember that USB hard drives are quite a bit slower then internal hard drives.

I did install to an external USB hard drive to check out some of the new features. It's less than ideal and not as speedy if it were on an internal drive.

I wouldn't use it for day to day tasks unless your hard drive died and were waiting on a new one to arrive.

Remember these installs are meant for developers, once it hits the App Store it'll be more stable.

Thanks for the replies. I will give it a shot. I didnt do a clean install when I first installed it, and rather than having to reinstal SL again, i think it'd be best if i install it on a separate, external drive. I cant do a second internal partition because this is a MBA with very limited space.
