Drag a window down to decrease its size ?

This is my first Apple computer.

Coming from windows 7, i used window snapping a lot. Also, I am so used to drag a window down and it would decrease in size.

Anything like this possible on macs ? Particularly on yosemite ?

App called Hyperdock offers Windows-like snapping/resizing functionality. It can be purchased on App Store or the developer's website http://hyperdock.bahoom.com. 2-week trial is also offered on the website as well.

It costs $10, but it adds a lot more features than snapping feature.

* preview of open windows if you put mouse cursor on Dock icon (just like Windows). You can also close windows from that preview. Furthermore, it also puts number that corresponds to the Mission Control desktop where the window is open (very thoughtful feature).
* preview of your schedules if you put mouse cursor on Calendar icon
* if you put mouse cursor on iTunes icon, it shows you what music is being played. It also has basic controls like play/pause and next/previous buttons in the little preview window.
* the app utilizes trackpad multi-touch gestures. If you swipe the window to the right or left with 2 fingers, the window will move to the corresponding Mission Control desktop (just like you would on Safari webpages). Furthermore, if you swipe up with 2 fingers, it will maximize the window. If you swipe down, it will make the window smaller, and place the window at the center of the screen.

Some of these features are difficult to explain in words, so please watch Youtube review/instructions of the app. Then you might have better understanding of what the app offers. And you can try the app for 2 weeks.

I've been using this app for 3+ years on my iMac and MacBook Pro, and the app has been very stable. It does not conflict with Mac system or other apps at all. Also, it does not take up much RAM (maybe 60mb). It does not slow down the system at all, but you might notice milliseconds of lag when the app is generating preview windows on Dock icon.

There are other alternatives like Cinch and BetterSnapTool, and they all cost less.

I am trying hyperdock, it works with everything I have tried so far. But it doesnt work with opera browser ? Am i missing something here ?

That's interesting. I never came across this issue, although I used Hyperdock on many different app windows. I am not familiar with Opera Browser but there could be a certain setting that prevents Hyperdock being used on the browser window.

If you use Opera browser a lot, you can try other apps like Cinch/BetterTouchTool/BetterSnapTool to see if it works. Make sure to remove Hyperdock before you try other apps!
