Drag & Drop on Desktop Items Opens Items

My husband got a new MacBook Pro, which is good. But he keeps yelling at it, which is bad.

When he uses drag & drop on the desktop, sometimes it works but much of the time, it will open the file he is trying to drag. He's not a novice, so he knows how to D&D.

Is there a setting or something that can be jiggered? Or something else?

If you do not have it setup this way then that might be the problem. Very hard to drag and drop by one finger touch.

Goto Settings / TrackPad / turn off More gestures Swipe betwee full-screen.....like below. Goto Settings /Accessibility/TrackPad/ Turn on 3 finger Enable dragging like below.

This is a easy way to drag and drop using 3 fingers.
