Sorry if this has been addressed in another thread. I tried a few searches before posting.

Anyway, Steve Jobs stated several times in the MWSF keynote that the iPhoto books were dramatically improved with regards to print quality. Anyone know if these print quality standards are in effect now? I ordered a book yesterday with photos from a special familyy trip, and I'm really hoping the print quality is as good as he is suggesting. If its similar to the previous books I've made in iPhoto, I'll be satisfied. However, I have my hopes up for something even better! He didn't mention a date for the new printing process, did he? Has anyone already received one of these new books? I'll be sure to post my impressions when the book arrives.

I think the difference is in the default dpi settings in iPhoto. In iPhoto 5, these were set at 150dpi, in iPhoto 6, I believe the default is now 300dpi.
If you'd used the 'change dpi to 300 in iPhoto 5', I doubt you'll see a huge difference in quality. If you didn't, then you should.

Where is that setting?! If I coulld have printed all my previous books at higher resolution, I feel like a real dumbass!

Don't feel like a dumbass since it's pretty well hidden in your plist file.

Quit iPhoto. If you didn't have the Xcode tools installed, you needed to download a little app called Prefsetter, search for iPhoto and then within the iPhoto.plist, search for book. In iPhoto 5, it came up with several Booktarget settings - one for each book size - the small had a default of 300, the other 2 had defaults of 150 (presumably to keep file size down). Change those settings to 300 and save them.

In iPhoto 6, all the settings with 'book' in it, seem to be set to 300.

Okay I feel better now, at least a little :). So if I had done that setting earlier in iPhoto 5, I would have gotten higher res photo books? It doesn't quite seem fair!
