Dream Car on a budget.

I recall seeing a thread once about dream cars but I can't find it. Anywho, what is your dream car that you think you can someday you can really afford.

My current want is a right hand drive, 1976-1980ish Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. Looking around you can find them is decent shape around 7k to 20k. I just think it would be awesome to own a RR to cruise on the weekends!

Hopefully I'd be able to afford one one day, but that may be decades in the future, and who knows what we'll all be driving (if driving is still a thing) then! Probably the Apple Car 10 or the Google Car...

Yes, rather lovely, I must admit.

I was driven in one of those by a distant cousin of my mother's in the mid 1970s when he turned up at our front door for a brief, flying visit. The advertising slogan was spot on; that thing glided off the pavement, and you hardly hear the engine it was so smooth and silent.

My dream cars are not practical, and owe much to nostalgia; I love the old, classic Citroen DS, and I think the E-Type Jaguar is one of the most insanely beautiful vehicles ever to sport an internal combustion engine.

The jet-set just went berserk for this car. However, if you loved E-Type I'm pretty sure you would be amazed by the Eagle Speedster. Its based on E-Type, looks better. Hand made half a million quid car. That tells everything.

Yes, the E-Type jaguar was one of the most striking and surreally beautiful cars in the history of motoring; I've seen them (not often) 'in the wild', though not in recent times, alas. Unfortunately, I have never actually been driven in one.

The other car I mentioned - the Citroen DS - oozed Gallic charm, elegance and sheer urbane sophistication and class. Not only was it striking in appearance, it was also a technical marvel for its era.

What can I say? To my mind, the Citroen exudes that understated sophistication and sheer stylish class of your (well, my) mental landscape of what I think Paris represented in the 1960s (and early 1970s).

The E-Type Jaguar is simply an amazing car. Stunning, stylish and exquisitely beautiful.

I've actually bought a dream car of mine, a 1972 Fiat 500. I really love cars of the '50s, '60s and '70s, but they're never really practical option when you live in a country with lots of salty rain and even some snow sometimes.

Would probably go with a new(ish) hot-hatch when I'll buy an everyday car. The Abarth 500 comes to mind, it's a real fun car and not that expensive.
