a simulacrum
right, this is not making sense to me
i'm making a new page in dreamweaver
saving it as a template
and start editing it to prepare my template to start using it to finish my site off.
i attach a stylesheet that i've previously created for two other pages imported from fireworks and it works fine.
when i try to create a layer to put my content in it creates its style in an embedded stylesheet and not the one i've attached it to!???
does anyone know what i'm talking about?
i have to duplicate the style rule into the other stylesheet and then delete the embedded stuff
also, when i set a background image to my layer and preview in browser it doesn't show, does the page background colour cover the layer's image background?
this has pissed me off so much i can't think straight, it's probably something really simple and i can't see it
please help cause i'm in a hurry to finish this work
thanks

Dreamweaver WYSIWYG view + CSS Layouts = Disaster. You heard it here first.

anywayz, for those that want to know, i didn't manage to figure out what the problem was, so i changed to split view and hand coded some div tags in there and then right clicked and added the styling rules to them in the predefined stylesheet.
so,at the end of the day, pure wysiwyg sucketh, you need to know how to code to work around problems. :)
also, css sucks, tables are still needed as i regretfully realised
