I just installed Dreamweaver on my new Mac and I don't like the way it looks. On Windows everything was in one place now you have the tool bar is at the top then the screen then the properties box on the bottom. Is there any way to get everything to come together? Why do most mac programs display like this?

Because you've just installed it, it's on the default layout. The Windows version was probably the same, but you've moved things around in the meantime.

Go to Window > Arrange panels. Then you can move them where you want and snap the properties and insert palettes together at the top.

The UI's are different between the OS X version of Dreamweaver and the Windows version because of the different document interfaces that the operating systems use.

When you're on Windows, Dreamweaver uses a Multiple Document Interface... it lumps everything you're doing into one big window. On OS X, Dreamweaver uses a Single Document Interface, because that is the way things have been on OS X, and IMO, is much better than the MDI. This is how, for example, when you're in one application and can "see through" into another app. Like if you're in Photoshop working on a design, you can see behind it, which you can't do on Windows, because it places everything into one "Parent" window.

Understand?

Ahhh ok thanks for the explanation. I know it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks but the more i use this Mac and learn the in and outs the more i like it..

As was said, I have come to LOVE the layout of the Adobe programs on Mac vs. PC. I didn't know about the whole multi document vs. single document stuff. That's fascinating stuff being able to see the other programs behind what you are working on. It's been helpful on MANY MANY occasions.
