Dreamweaver template restyling

I've come into a project that uses dreamweaver templates, which I'm in the process of updating. I had intended to replace the template code with a couple of asp include statements to make the site easier to maintain. However, If I were to simply, for example, replace everything up to the body with an include DW has a conniption fit. Is there a way to quickly replace the DW template code with a few #include statements?
