Drive not recognized on PB

I am a switcher as of 1 week ago and I have a superdrive issue on my 12" PB that I'm not sure how to fix.

When I insert any (dvd-r or cdr) disc the finder pops up an error message. the exact message is attached to this post.

I had no problems on Monday when burning both dvds and cds.

The only thing I have done since then that might have broken it is I installed an older version of DVD studio 3 and Final cut 4 and they were updated to the newest versions with the software updater. Could this do it?

Uph... no problems with anything else, but this sure is frustrating to a mac noob like me.

Oh, OS 10.4.1 with all updates if you didn't gather that...

I guess I now become the shmuck because I didn't even think to google the error code. I have been using windows since 95 and I didn't think to do that?! Who would have thought!
