I put a new dvd burner in my G4 AGP graphics model running 10.4.7. 500mhz, 480mb ram. The other drive I had put in was recognized perfectly. It was not a dvd burner though, just a dvd drive. It's a lite-on (can't remember specifics). It's set to slave. Does it need to be set to master or something? It's plugged in the right way and everything.

If the other drive is set to Master, then the DVD Burner needs to be set as slave.

OR

If the other drive is set to slave, then you need to set the DVD Burner as master.

In other words, they both can be set as the same thing. One has to be slave and the other has to be master.

If you can't get anything to work, try CS or cable select.

Also, look in Apple System Profiler under the ATA section and see if the drive shows up. To get to Apple System Profiler you can click on the Apple Menu and choose About this Mac and then click on the More Info button.
