Hey everyone so here is the issue i am having. Earlier today i was messing around with my AppleTV hard drive connected via USB 2.0 adapter. I was moving sshd over to the /Volumes/OSBoot/usr/sbin/ directory. I accidentally moved it to the /usr/bin/ directory. When i went to delete it i made a stupid, stupid mistake. I did rm -rf /usr/bin/!?!?!

I tried to use the 1.1 update DMG file to recover the files however it would not boot, all it would do is make the light on the front flash from white to amber over and over.

I made backups of my OSBoot, Recover and Media partitions but I did not see the EFI partition. I formatted the drive while following a how-to and could not get it to properly work again.

I have been following this how-to
http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/Prepare_a_Hard_Drive

however I do not have the EFI.dmg that it requires.

The closest I can get to getting my AppleTV to boot is that it get's to a screen with an image of the AppleTV with a flashing ? above it.

I have been searching and searching and I cannot figure out what needs to be done in order to get this thing to boot again.

I checked with Apple and of course since i opened the case the warranty is void. However they also will not do an out of warranty repair on this because their policy is to just replace the unit so they said i would just have to buy another one.

I checked with MacService.com and they can do the fix however they will not work with my hard drive and want $295 to put a 160gb drive in my unit. I have a 160gb drive so it makes no sense to me to go that route.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to get this working properly again I would appreciate any help you can provied.
