Very excited (future) Mac Pro user here. I'm going to buy a 2012 as soon as they come out (here's hoping) and I'm wondering how I should setup my HDs.
I'm a media junky and uses a lot of space. On Windows 8 I can use storage space to "merge" the drives into 1 logical drive. On Windows 7, I can use libraries to do a bit of the same effect but I'm searching for a mac solution.
I assume I will be told to use raid or jbod but if I put 3 HD in a job array and I want to add a fourth one, will I be able to without destroying the array? I don't think so, right?
I don't really need redundancy (although it would be nice), what I really need is easy expandability.
Is there any libraries-like or storage space-like features on mac? I know it doesn't out of the box but is there a third party solution? I just don't wanna have to remember where I put which file I want all my HDs to act like 1 big logical volume. Is a third party ZFS solution working correctly on mac and would that solve my problem?
Thoughts?
