I will be picking up an ATV soon and have a couple of questions.

I have 50+ gig of pictures, 300+ gig of music and 400+ DVDs that I will be ripping (ugh, not looking forward to that). Clearly this will far exceed both the 40 and 160 gig drives capacity. Since I have to stream, is there any benefit at all to the larger hard disk?

My second question is I have two copies of every CD I own in iTunes: one in ACC format for my iPod and the other in lossless format for listening through my home theatre system. Since I don't own one yet, I have no clue about what it supports as far as streaming goes. Is the ATV "smart" enough to stream smart playlists like I can to my iPod? What I want to avoid is having every song in every album showing up twice.

Streaming to your Apple TV should be just fine. Depends on your host Mac and the distant, some people don't like the noise generated by a desktop Mac while enjoying their music/movie/etc.

If you really want to keep all the media in one place, will a Mac mini + Front Row a better combination?
