macOS drjava replacement??

i been searching far and wide(and by that i mean google) trying to find a good java IDE for the mac, i use nedit and then use terminal to compile and run java programs at school, at home i use drjava and its been working great, till now.....i've recently been running into problems... with it crashing and not opening files....so on, so i've looked for alternatives. i've tried netbeans and xcode but nothing seems to be as lightweight and as good as drjava, does anyone have any recomendations???

I see its been a few days since you posted this, so im not sure if you have found a replacement yet. But if you still are looking, I would suggest Eclipse.

I too started out in Dr. Java and switched to Eclipse for a class this semester. Hope that helps.

the jar file works pretty good too, i'm gonna try eclipse though too.

Eclipse is the best there is.
You can tune the error section to exactly give those warnings you really want
in great detail.

Okay, stop it. Java may be a lousy language but that's not an excuse to settle for a lousy IDE.

Use IntelliJ.

Yeah pick up yourself a student license for IntelliJ IDEA. It really is the best Java IDE out there at the moment.

If you really don't want to spend a dime then Netbeans is probably the second best IDE.

Eclipse is just a bit of a mess as IDEs go.
