So I have the Motorola Droid as of right now and I've loved it so far, but I'm an Apple boy at heart and I just can't deal with not having an iPhone anymore. The Android platform has serious issues that are nonexistent on the iPhone such as phone lag due to programs never closing in the background, and a poorly designed and counter-intuitive OS.

Anyway, the two major reasons I got the Droid were:

1. Google Maps with built in Navigation - this feature is AWESOME. A free and very competent turn-by-turn GPS system consolidates 2 devices into 1 and saves $$$.

2. Google Voice: this feature is even more awesome. Basically free voice calls because it doesn't use Verizon's minutes, along with transcribed voicemail.

So if I move to the iPhone, what are my options in terms of these two departments? I know GVoice isn't available (officially) on the iPhone, but is there a jailbroken app that allows this? And what are the options for (free) navigation apps that compare with Google maps?

Thanks guys!

GVMobile will solve all your GVoice needs.

No Google Maps tbt support that I know of. Have to use a third party solution.

Good to hear about GVMobile, I'll have to jailbreak first thing. Also, I realize Google Maps tbt isn't on the iPhone, I was wondering if there was an alternative.

Except for that if he buys a new iPhone now, it will 99.99% be either 3.1.3 or the newer bootrom, and therefore he will not be able to jailbreak it currently.

I'm actually planning on buying it in May/June so I'm assuming it'll be JB'd by then...hopefully...

Geohot has an untethered jailbreak for new iphone 3gs and 3.1.3 but he hasn't released it yet.

His video is all over YouTube.

But yes, I didn't point out the obvious, and that is your device must be able to be jailbroken before you can use GVMobile.
