I have just set up a new MacBook Air and in this process I have installed dropbox which has ben syncing for a while. When I started up the machine today the icon in the top menu bar is gone.

Tried deleting the finder.plist file and restarted the machine but no luck.

I have caffeine and better touch tool installed and those icons show up fine...

Any suggestions?

I noticed sometimes when I restart my computer that Dropbox didn't automatically start up with it and obviously the icon was missing as well. Have you tried just launching Dropbox after a restart?

In System Preferences, go to Users and Groups then Login items tab.
Ensure that DropBox is loading on boot

When I double click the app icon nothing happens.

The Dropbox app was not listed at all....strange

But adding the app manually worked.

Thanks! :)
