Here is my setup. I have a Macbook Pro, and a Macbook Air. I have an Airport Extreme router with a usb hdd plugged into it. I have a folder full of pictures already organized in my own folder structure. (No I don't use Photos, and iCloud and don't want to). My pictures folder structure has been organized the way I do it for a long time. I sync my pictures (MBP) to the USB hdd connected to the AE router. My wife does the same with her MBA. However when we want to weed out blurry photos or anything, it becomes real difficult because we don't have a way of actually 'syncing' the two computers to the hdd. I considered Dropbox... just not willing to pay $10 a month. I would like to replicate dropbox syncing in house. Is this possible? I'm quite familiar with rsync and command line, and really considered building a script for this, but why re-invent the wheel if it is already out there. Plus, I prefer something simple for the MBA.

OK, found this.... : https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sync-folders-pro/id522706442?mt=12 Anyone ever use it? Sync Folders Pro. I have used the free edition, and am quite impressed with how it works, and the documentation that explains it to me. "Auto"-syncing isn't really working in the free one.... but it is the free app. Perhaps in the paid edition it works? Or perhaps I'm missing something? Price is very reasonable.

EDIT: The auto syncing is disabled on the free version. I found the comparison on their web page. Solid app, has a safety net for deleted files.

Just for the record... I have got this working. Two Mac's one usb drive attached to my Airport Extreme router and this app syncing both: http://www.greenworldsoft.com/sync-folders-pro-help.php Very pleased. I leave it setting in my icon tray, running all the time, and it checks. I can open it up, and see what was the last change that was made. We don't have extreme amount of changes, so it has been a week since any changes were made. But this seems to work like a charm. I do use the Pro version.
