I've used Dropbox on my Mac for years. Frankly prefer it to iCloud. I use it for it's basic original purpose - basically an off-site backup to my (non-essential / non-private) files.
There are features I have yet to try - like Paper.
I access it on my Mac largely thru Finder - treat it like any other Folder. No issues ever.
I use it from the day 1, for various purposes, and in the last few years I started to keep most of my freelance work on it. Also not a single issue ever, comparing to the iCloud and Google Drive experiences.
