I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I think it is.
Does anyone use their iPhone for streaming music? I just got an Apple AirPort Express (A1264) solely for the purpose of streaming audio to the living room stereo from my iPhone X. It sounds fine, but dropouts are common. My AX is in join network mode. Latest firmware, though I tried downgrading to 7.6 without change. The iPhone is playing local music.
I don't think it's the router because clogging the network with traffic such as running a speed test on a computer or the iPhone itself doesn't cause a dropout. Instead, the dropouts seem random. I am running 802.11g on an isolated channel. I don't have any other problems with wifi. Bluetooth is disabled.
Has anyone successfully used their AirPort Express to stream music dropout free? If they have, then I suspect the AX is faulty.
