Should I assume the WiFi antenna and/or components are damaged? I’ve tried resetting network settings and even restoring iPad as new but WiFi will not turn on. When I try to toggle on WiFi it won’t do anything. Any suggestions? Can you get the WiFi antenna repaired?

Apple will probably have one specific service charge for these kind of things. Best to reach out to them right away.

Are you still within warranty? If yes, and there are no signs of damage I would take it into the store and play stupid "I have no idea what has happened. No, i have never dropped my device" If you admit to accidental damage it will void your warranty. If you are outside of warranty, service will be at a cost regardless.

This is pointless as apple store employees deal with such people everyday. They’ll open the iPad and if damage can be seen then they’ll charge you regardless.

Had the exact same issue with a 5C that I dropped back in the day.

Yep, feigned as if I don't know what happened (It was right after iOS 9 was released, told them "I did the upgrade and the phone got really hot, I manually reset it but after it came back the WiFi stopped working") and they replaced it on the spot.

Worth a try, iOS12 only just came out

First of all I think it would be fraud to try to get it repaired as a warranty repair if you have dropped it.

Secondly, I don't think it is only the antennas, because then it most likely would looks like you have no or only minimal signal strength but not that the wifi is greyed out, this is much more likely a fault of the wifi chip/board.

Go to the store and tell them it's not working anymore. Whether any damage or impact exceeds the parameters established by Apple for that specific device to withstand before breaking is up to them.

This "being honest" stuff works better when you clearly caused catastrophic damage to the device (liquid immersion, screen is destroyed).

If they don't repair and want to charge you $500, an indie repair shop will probably be able to do that repair for you for a good price.

actually no the stores do NOT open iPads. never have. for some issues with some diagnostic test results they have to send it to one of their mail in centers and I suppose that location could tell if something was impact damaged.

but in store, unless it's one of those situations, they would just swap the device and charge based on the warranty status and whether it's bent, cracked screen etc

most store staff are likely wise to the whole "if they say they never dropped they totally dropped it". but for the sake of avoiding lawsuits the device has to have proven liquid exposure like rust inside, visible dents/bends or a totally cracked screen for it to be called 'damaged'. otherwise it's just about what the warranty status is.
