Dropped Iphone Help

Hi, I am new to I PHONE, less than 30 days. I dropped my I Phone in the parking lot a few hours ago and it is not working. I did not buy the Apple care, but not sure that it will make a difference. Can anyone please tell me what my options are? If I buy a new one, will it cost me $500 to replace like the ATT website suggests? I rely on my phone to connect to the world and am panicked tonight. Anyone out there who can set me straight? I will save my frustrations about ITunes for another time...

Applecare does not cover accidental damage. You're only option is to buy a new one.
