I dropped my IPhone in the toilet and took it out right away. I then dried it off but not with a hairdryer or anything just a towel. I got a text right after (thank god texting still worked) but then an Airplane message kept coming up. The sound worked sometimes. I decided to just leave it alone for the rest of the day. I came back to check on it and the messages went away and the complete sound was back. At first I was ecstatic until I turned it off then it came back on. I tried to turn it off again but still it automatically came back on. I tried force shutting it down but it still went back on. It would say slide to turn off, then I would slide it but after a second or two the apple logo would pop back up and I was back to the home screen! The next thing I found wrong was that i would just put it to sleep by clicking the button on the top and in the next 30 seconds it would light up to the home screen. I saw a flicker of the Airplane message but a flicker would be the only thing I saw. I looked at the water damage thing in the earphone jack but it was white. HELP!

Was it before or after the "deed" was done? Trust me, it makes a difference.

Do we have a count on how many people actually dropped their iPhones in the toilet? These people need to keep their iPhone on a tether.

Here's some advice:

If you drop your iPhone in water, turn it off right away. Dry it off. Put it in a container with rice (the rice absorbs the moisture). Don't turn it on for at least 24 hours.

Then cross your fingers, turn it on, and hope for the best......

wasn't this posted like last week :rolleyes:
Get a bluetooth headset people!

What difference would that make? We'd just trade dropping iPhones in the toilet to BT headsets in the toilet. No offense OP, but the stupidity of people dropping their phones in the toilet amazes me. I often wonder if they post them only for attention. :rolleyes:

I thought you had to be pretty stupid too to drop your phone in the toilet. But I put mine on the top of it (not the toilet seat or lid, the thing on top where people often put tissues and such) and it slid in because I guess I put it on the top at a wrong angle.

make sure that the rice is NOT COOKED.

i gave this advice to a friend and he cooked the rice before placing the phone in it... i never could imagine that he would be so dumb
<facepalm>

LOL. For serious? He cooked the rice? He's never been to a diner that put rice in the salt shaker? Wow. :)

How's the water detector in the charging port area....is that white too....if:so, there is no evidence of water damage:)

I'd still prly put it in a bag of rice or use a hair dryer to dry it out some more....may just take a little more time to start functioning normal...
