dropped iPhone (off moving pickup truck)

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to tell you all my horror story of a damaged iphone.

I was moving a bed on a pickup truck, and I was using my iphone, then put it down on a mattress(vertically in the pickup) after I was done(stupid stupid thing to do) and forgot it was there. turns out the phone stayed on the mattress for 5 miles before it fell off.

If you didnt read that, yes my iphone fell off a moving pickup truck from about 8 feet up off the ground and traveling about 35 mph.

I had no idea I had lost it untill I unloaded the pickup truck and couldnt find it.

Someone from the Highway department found it and I called the phone and he told me I could come and pick it up. I was worried it wouldnt work, but no it works fine, not a scratch on the screen at all. The back is scratched up majorly and has a few dents but other than that great shape.

And best of all it still works, after flying off a pickup truck 8 feet up going 35 mph onto concrete road.

By the way yes I know im stupid, but other things were on my mind at the moment and accidents happens, luckily it wasnt a $600 accident, and I didnt loose the phone. Thank goodness there are still good people out there in the world, and apple makes a preaty sturdy phone too.

holy crap! that is both sad and amazing. I can't believe it still works, I can't believe you called your phone and someone had found it and answered and you have it back. I totally feel for you though. Can't imagine realizing my phone took a dive off a moving truck on a highway. Now will you try to get it replaced I wonder?

Since the screen is fine, you should buy a case to cover it, and it will seem new

WOW! Glad to hear it still works, and at least the screen is still in good condition, to me thats the most important part of the phone. Too bad you cant sell this story to apple some how... I really cant believe the phone survived this event. Weird i read some posts on this forum that said some people had cracked their screens from a simple fall. And dont forget if the scratches are really bothering you, you can always send it to that colorware company and get it replaced. Or you can replace it your self... any how Cool/sad story!

If the screen is still in good condition you can just go out and buy a case to cover up the scars on the back and nobody will ever know.

Wow, that's crazy. Glad that you got your iPhone back and it still works, now its time to buy a case for the back . Just a question, does the camera still work good?

Why don't you send it out to colorware.com and for $150 you can get the whole phone customized and replaced. Yea it sucks having to pay more, but this way it covers the battle scars and makes your phone look awesome in the process.

Hey, now it has character. I like it. The scratches (read: scars) make it look like a "man's phone".

I was honestly surprised that it was still working when I got it.

I talked to the highway worker and he was a really nice guy, it was very lucky that I got the phone back.

As for getting it repaired or replaced, I haven't decided yet, if I did it I would probably do the colorware route, but do they replace the parts or do they just paint over your original parts?

I just tried to take a few pictures of the front but none of them came out good, I will mess around with it some more later on today and see if I can get anything to come out better.

It was the OP's error not the manufacturer's. They would have no obligation to replace it.

People need to quit trying to obtain replacements/repairs that they are not entitled to unless they agree to pay for them.

That's awesome that it lived! Really shows the durability of the unit.

Kind of reminds me of something I did with my first phone. Left it on the top of my car and remembered while driving that I set it up there. Hit the brakes and it landed right in the area between my windshield and hood.
