I dropped my Air last wkend outside onto the path. I dented the casing a bit but what I'm really worried about is tat the part of the casing around the isight bent out of shape and the glue holding it to the screen has come undone. The case is also slightly bent out of shape.

Where would I get this fixed? I don't have Apple Care.

Also, I'm from Ireland. Luck of the Irish my Arse!!!!

Unfortunately, the entire monitor/LCD display housing/iSight, etc, are all considered one part by Apple. So you'll need a new screen, plus a new bottom case. That's probably close to $800 :(

Typical Irish actions . Joke lol. Anyway, have you got any pictures? AppleCare will charge hundreds to fix it. It is better to sell on eBay, buy a new one with a good case. (BTW, the $800 is just for the topcase)

Having a problem uploading the pics. I took them with my iPhone n saved them to iPhoto but can't seem to insert them. When I click 'insert pic' it asks for the address of the pic.

As you can see, it has come free of the screen. Plus if you look closely in the third pic, the casing is slightly bent. It's hard to see in a pic but its a bit off!!!

Upload them to imageshack and then use the IMG link here. (little yellow square with a mountain in and a little sun).

Sorry to hear that, if you're near Cork you could chain yourself outside Holyhill in the hope they'll take pity on you. But otherwise I suggest you take it into your nearest Apple Authorised Reseller and get a quote for repair. Then call your home insurance and lodge a claim.

Can you not stick the bezel back? Or is it bent? Regardless, you know what? I think you got off lightly. Take it in for a quote - you may get away with just a replacement bezel. Not at an Apple Store though, they'll say the full monty, display casing the lot. Ouch. An AAR is more likely to help you in that regard.

If you can't live with the slightly bent casing, then sell it after fixing the bezel.

Re. a spare bezel if you PM me, I can point you in the direction of somewhere that can help ;)

Nowhere near Cork...from Dublin. Yeah it's a pain in the ass alright. Lets just say a lot of birds migrated when it hit the concrete. Words came out of my mouth that should never be ushered out loud again!!:D

It's even more annoying cuz if this rumoured tablet is to be announced at WWDC I was thinking of selling my Air on ebay to get it. All I use it is for web surfing, Word, Pics, iTunes etc.

Maybe I'll delve into me pot of gold ho ho!!!

Ill try Spectra Photo, Ireland's closest thing to an Apple store. I suppose I could live with it but if I was to sell it on I'd need to get it fixed.

You can see the warped casing in the second pic better.
As I said, first step take it into an AAR, have a chat and get a quote. I've had one or two similar issues with an aluminium casing being a little bent out of shape, and can sometimes be fixed/reshaped once they've cracked it open. Just depends. Good luck.

Spectra are NOT an Authorised service outlet. I doubt they know how to turn a Mac on never mind fix anything.

Can you be more specific about your location? Nearest city? Dublin? Cork? Galway?

Is this an original MBA or a new/revised MBA?

If original, I would suggest you take it apart and try to fix it and bend it back in place yourself. They are so cheap to buy that paying a small fortune doesn't make sense... costs around $900 in the US just to replace the lid with display. Refurbished original is $999.

Now, if it is a rev B or Nvidia MBA, I would advise you fix it, and sell the broken part on eBay. A lot of people have broken hinges, and that may give them the hinges... NOT anywhere near 100% sure, but seems like someone could make use of it. Plus, those that have bad display could use the display and swap out. I know with MBP that I had, I could take all apart, so I am going on that. Seems like you could sell the hinges for a nice sum and the display for a pretty penny too.

I also have seen aluminum replacement parts on eBay, if you could just replace the aluminum lid, and use your display, that would work.

Wherever you get it fixed, make sure you get the original parts back and sell them online, as seem super valuable.

Good luck.
