I did something stupid today and am pretty mad at my self. I've had my mbp for 3 months now and always carry it in a case. Well the case fell off my shoulder and landed on the only place that my case doesn't have padding. And it put a nice dent in the bottom left hand side. My physics professor and I took a mallet and sort of un-dented it. Now their is still a small dent in the case, my battery isn't as snug and the casing itself isn't as tight.

on to my question,
will apple do anything about this? I could argue the case that the dent would let excess moisture in and cause lots of harm to my computer... maybe...

This is the reason I bought an iMac instead of a MacBook.

Unfortunately, this does not fall into Apple Care. If you want it fixed, your more than likely, going to have to pay for it to be fixed. You might want to look on eBay, there are always people selling notebooks for parts...

Sorry for the unfortunate situation...:(

Yeah, but you did it yourself - it's not Apple's fault, and they don't cover accidental damage. Good luck trying to get them to sort it.

You could maybe pay them to replace the casing, but I'm guessing it would be very expensive.

anyone know of somebody who would fix something like this? While i wouldn't mind operating on my mbp, I still rather wouldn't.

edit: ps If only apple would sell accidental damage protection. The only grudge I have ever had with them.

If you just google mac repairs...

you'll find a lot of sites that do repairs...
