I have Yosemite and Mountain Lion on the same MacBook Pro on different partitions to dual boot . Does anyone now of a program that is available to stop me shutting down when I go from Yosemite to Mountain Lion, without shutdown

Can you not just choose "restart" instead, and hold down the Option key during reboot?

I suppose you could use something like Parallels or Fusion to run one OS or the other as a VM then switch between them.

I can but I just wondered if there was a program that did it similar to the program boot champ that avoids going to the different part ions to choose .

Not exactly, but it sounds like what you want to do is go to System Preferences > Startup Disk

That still requires a restart, but at least you can do the drive selection first and then go get a snack while it's restarting instead of sitting around holding the option key.

Slightly better.
