I was wondering if developers would have the ability to use the dual cameras in the 7+ to achieve other uses like switching the focus of a picture after it's taken and capturing 3D images etc.

Yeah, I was disappointed with the simplistic use of the dual lenses. I really thought it would be something like two normal lenses (50mm equivalent), one focuses on your subject, the other focuses about 5 ft before the subject. Then in the processing chip the two photos are merged: the blurry defocused shot is used for the background, the sharp shot for the subject.

Maybe other tricks are coming.

Apple bought LinX some time ago, and they specialized in multi-aperture imaging. The old LinX presentations gave some ideas of what was possible-- I'm guessing they'll roll out more capability over time...
