Hey,

I'm running into an annoying problem that formerly existed on the trashcan but got patched away years ago...
I'm worrying that it might have to do with the way I now need to connect my displays. The Dell UP2715k is powered by a dual displayport connection, which I'm channeling into the Mac Pro's TB3 ports through an expensive Sonnet Adapter.

When the screens turn dark for power saving mode, sometimes (but not always) no matter how many buttons I push, they just won't come back online.

My projector which is also attached via HDMI comes back immediately.

Any ideas how to solve this?

I don't have it hooked up by Thunderbolt 3, but when I first got the UP2715k I had a similar problem and I believe it went away when I disabled "Monitor Sleep" in the Dell's on-screen display "Energy" section (it was enabled by default).

I have the display set to turn off through the Energy Saver System Preference so it seems unnecessary to have the Dell also try to control sleep, and when the problem went away I figured they conflicted with each other.

Hmmmm, thanks, I'll try that out. Never caused problems for me on the old machine, but maybe it'll help now.

I’ve had similar experiences with my Dell 4K 24” for the last few years, regardless of machine I use it with.

Unplugging the power cord, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in fixes the issue*.
