Hello All,

It's been a while since I've posted here. I guess my mac has been running without a hitch!:D I'm hoping someone can help me out.

Here's the situation.

PM G5 dual 2.0
1.5 GB RAM
OSX 10.4.8
ATI 9600 128MB
22" Viewsonic VX2235wm (DVI 1)
Panasonic PT-AE300U Projector (DVI 2)

Here's the problem. I've got the native res of 1680x1050 on the Viewsonic working no problem. But the native res of the Panisonic Projector is 960x540 and it doesn't work right. http://www.projectorcentral.com/Panasonic_Home-PT-AE300U.htm

The only resolutions available for the "LCD Display" which is my panasonic projector are: 640x480, 800x600, & 1024x768. These are all letterbox or 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions. I've tried using the SwitchResX Control software without any success.

All I want is my Mac to push a widescreen res to both displays, one at 1680x1050 & one at 960x540 (or something close).

Does anyone have any ideas? Making all this hardware work is the best option, but I'd consider upgrading the video card if that's what it took.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

BZ

So I found this update on ATI's site:
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27

Anyone know if this will help? Has anyone applied this update?

Also can someone confirm exactly what this 9600 ATI card has for specs? When I went to ATI's site there were two models one with 256MB of RAM and one with 64MB of RAM. My system says that mine has 128MB of RAM??

Also are both DVI ports created equal? Or does one need an adapter??

Thanks for any advice.

I got it figured out!!!

Okay, so I don't need any help on this highly technical question. I was able to get SwitchResX to work for me.

I dabbled until I was able to create a custom resolution of 1280x768 @ 60 Hz. A first I had to guess on the timing parameters and that was a little nerving. But I got it to work then I scaled it to 1024x614. Then I took that resolution and created another custom res scaling it to 960x540 which is the native resolution of my projector! The the wise ole' mac offered a "stretched" version of the 960x540 to make it 960x600.

Now my 22" viewsonic is getting 1680x1050 and my projector is getting dang close to its native 960x540! GOod to go!:D :D

This has been fun! Thank God for third party applications!!!!
