Sorry if this has been posted, I don't think it has.

My wife (I love her) suggested that I keep my 1.83 Ghz CD iMac and use it as an external monitor for the new 2011 iMac. This all came up b/c I said I was going to buy one and sell the older iMac. Question is, is this easily done? Is the connection stable? What kind of cable will I need?

Thanks guys!

Would this cause my connection to lag? I don't have snow leopard on the older mac so app store is out. However I would be receiving a new copy with purchase.... kidding kidding interesting programs though I'll have to investigate a little.

Thanks

I use it at home, and the only time I notice a lag is if I try to play a game. I'm wired with gigabit, haven't tried it wireless

Edit I use it to link my 13" MacBook pro with my 24" iMac.

Ya I was actually going to use it for gaming. Have the old mac set up for teamspeak, track ir or whatever and game on big guy. How would that work you think?

Nice name by the way JeepGuy, I'm rockin a 2000 cherokee classic 4x4 atm

Not sure how that would work, but the software is cheap, you can download the demo and give it a try.

Thanks, 2000 TJ, that is painful to fill up these days.

With "windows" as in application windows or with "windows" as in Microsoft Windows?

Micrapsoft. But I was thinking I could technicually just install the apps on the older iMac or even old macbook and have the same effect pretty much. I dunno I may just sell it and get a monitor, just thought they'd look cool next to each other.

I just hate minimizing a game to tinker with another app. Thanks for the help.
