Unfortunately this isn't a very search engine friendly question so apologies if this has been asked before.

I'm doing my first Classic Mac Pro (4,1/5,1) build and am at the point of installing my "new" RX 580.

Bringing in a dual mini 6 pin to 8 pin cable to where I live would just take waaay too long but I managed to track down a supply of mini 6 pin connectors as well as 8 pin just down the road from me.

Now I just need someone to please supply me with a pin out as I cant find one anywhere online and the GPU sitting on my desk staring at me with its two big fans is driving me nuts!

RX 580 won't show boot screen, better get a GTX 680 or HD 7950.
If you insist on that card, you should buy the 6 pin to 8 pin adapter

Mine shipped within 3 days

Or a HD 7970 3gb.

BUMP

I'd even settle for a clear photo of the cable laid out straight to see what goes where. Thanks in advance.

Be aware that it's very well possible to solder the cable yourself, but if something's wrong connected, it can destroy the PSU ,GPU and the LogicBoard .
The pin out of a 6/8 pin can be easily googled...

RX 580 won't show boot screen,

The RX 580 can be flashed to get a boot screen e.g. by MacVidCards in Poland, and can be found in eBay.
Another way is to install OC.
Note that RX 580 will only work with drivers that come with 10.12 or later. Best drivers come with 10.14.6 Mojave.

Yes I am aware of the risks but I am somewhat experienced with electronics projects so I think I'd be able to safely follow a pin out if I could find one. Google actually hasn't helped at all which is why I turned to the forums. 6 to 8 pin I have found but not for the dual cabled one's. And some pin outs show +12v and ground pins only and other show a "sense" pin. Not getting consistent results online is why I figured I'd rather ask for help, better being safe than sorry.

And thanks for the link, I will check them out? I know there are options when it comes to dealing with non boot screen GPU's which is why I am not worried about that. I chose it based on my needs and am happy with that route.

The HD 7970 3 gb is much better, stronger than the HD 7950 which is the little brother of the RX 280.

The HD 7970 is the little brother of the RX 280X

The Sapphire Dual-X 3 gb HD 7970 is a great card and can easily be EFI flashed, I know as I flashed and down-volted mine.

I already have an RX 580 though which is why I asked about the cable and not alternate GPU solutions.

And I was simply addressing anyone who'd want to tell me which GPU I should get, seeing as though it seems like they might have missed that part of the original post🙂

Wasn't a response to you MIKX😊

This doesn't clear up your questions ,to be honest.

Apart from that, I assume that there's a lot of valuable info in the previous posts to help you.

Not sure how that isn't perfectly clear? I stated that I am at the point of installing the card. Which is to say that I have already purchased it.

As for valuable info, yes I responded to your previous post about soldering, thanking you for the link and explaining what my problem is with with looking for pin outs on Google and why I am uncertain about those. But for some reason the forum is holding the post for moderator approval first so it isn't showing up. Not sure what thats about??‍♂️
