i'm having a problem with my 2011 mac mini server (intel graphics) -- when i attach a second monitor via hdmi everything is fine, both monitors work perfectly.
if i rotate one monitor 90 degrees everything is still fine (doesn't matter which one it is). if i rotate two monitors 90 degrees the one attached to the hdmi port stops refreshing.
the mouse moves around but i can't click anything and if i drag a windows onto that monitor the mouse appears but the windows does not.
i have tried two different monitors from a different vendor (dell vs nec), resetting pram, and resetting smc with no luck.
i used these same two monitors with my previous core 2 duo 2010 mac mini (desktop) and they worked just fine.
the only thing i haven't yet done is swap my ram.
i've only been able to find one thread on the internet regarding this particular issue but a few people have said they have a similar problem -- https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3230766
i have a support case open with apple, they're blaming it on my monitors being "incompatible" with osx however there's no way that can be true.
any ideas? this is very frustrating. having two portrait monitors is very beneficial to my job. my next step is to try and get a replacement unit.
