Doesn't really seem worth it. It takes maybe 5 seconds to plug in all the cables, and its a free solution.
 
I use a CalDigit TS2 dock. It's great for the convenience/clutter-free factor, but the main reason I need it is because my MBP (late 2011) only has a single thunderbolt port and USB 2.0. So, the dock gives me access to USB 3, external display, etc. via my thunderbolt port.

I'd say it's definitely worth it if you tend to work with a number of external devices from a desk.

OWC and StarTech also make solid looking products.

ETA: One caveat is that the audio volume can't be controlled over Thunderbolt (at least with my setup), so the audio ports are pretty useless.
