Hi

so most of you will be familiar with having a laptop and a second screen.
You have your laptop as the primary screen and the second screen as an extention.
so for example you could be reading a word document on your second screen and be watching a youtube video on the laptop screen.

So i want to do this with my ipad i want to to have my lecture playing on my monitor that my ipad is connected to and on my ipad i want my notes app open so i can take notes at the same time.
currently what i see on my ipad is also what i see on my screen.

does anyone know of third party websites where this is possbile?

kind regards
Immi D

I think Apple needs to add this to the Display options in iPadOS. I don’t believe it’s possible to do it any other way.

Second screens apps that use iPad as a 2nd monitor are flowing through an app. You need a system-wide feature within iPadOS to do it any other way.

think: Windows when you connect another screen, you can choose to duplicate or extend your desktop. That’s the type of option that needs to be added to iPad. I’d like that as well.

I do not understand this topic. Do you know Sidecar?

As has been noted above, Sidecar extends the functionality of a Mac using an ipad as an input device or secondary screen. OP is looking for something different - to use a secondary monitor on the iPad and display two totally different things on the ipad’s screen vs on the external monitor. NO MAC at all in the equation.

The only thing that comes close to what you’re describing is to airplay a video on a second screen, And then have other activity happening On the main ipad screen. otherwise iPad OS just isn’t ready yet.

Yeh this is what i was thinking too but i want to run some apps where airplay Is not a function like adobe acrobat

firstly guys thankyou so much for your reply.

Secondly I guess we have come to a conclusion that you cant do what i want on an ipad.
Do you think there is anyway that we can lobby apple to try and make it happen, i know we are only a few of many lol.

What do you guys think?

There is no clear channel to voice your opinion. You can send an email via the Apple website. People have emailed Tim Cook directly in the past. Petitions don’t work. Apple has their own timeline of how/when they want to do things. Best you can do is communicate with them as I described above and hope others are doing the same. Just don’t email-bomb them every day.

I’d be really curious to know how Apple makes their decisions on new features. A lot of it just seems to be market research, not really individual requests. I don’t know how they can gauge how many people want a feature they don’t already offer lol.
