hi there. i'm looking for a second screen for my 17" intel imac and i want it to fit with the imac itself. i've been looking for 17" widescreens but there are only a few out there so i guess i should buy a 20" widescreen. could you recomend me a screen that would look nice next to my imac? i don't want to spend more than $400. thanks!

I have a 19in LG widescreen and it is pretty nice. Was 230 bucks too.

has 1444 by 900 res
2000:1 contrast
5ms response
both dvi and vga
tv tuner

Its the LG Flatron Wide and its silver which looks cool

Yea its not bad at all, almost prefer it actually. When looking around at monitors, it seems that you wont find any that have a resolution greater than this anyways at this size. Whoops actually 1440 by 900

Currently external monitors are in a bit of a different bracket compared to the high res laptop screens.

17" Widescreen = 1280x768
19" Widescreen = 1440x900
20" Widescreen = 1680x1050
23" Widescreen = 1920x1200
24" Widescreen = 1920x1200
30" Widescreen = 2560x1600

The 19" 4:3 monitor is in a tricky spot for resolution, most of the time they are the same res as the 17" 4:3 monitor at 1280x1024 but with larger pixels. I find such monitors difficult to use because they appear fuzzy, however a 19" Widescreen looks OK to me for some reason... make sense of that?!

i always had the idea that apple should come out a screen that looks exactly like the iMac, but its not the computer just the screen. it could be thinner and sleeker sexier?

yeah btw i have a iMac G5 with an isight built in, rigth before the revision of the intel chips, is there anyway i could hook up another monitor to mine or is not compatible becuase its not intel?

You'll need a mini-VGA -> VGA adapter from Apple and Google "Screen Spanning Doctor" - I think it worked with the last lot of G5 iMacs.
